I’m having a home tournament in October. Any other advice or stories to share?

Best answer:

Answer by jimb105
The last one I held had 27 people. I suggest getting one of those tournament programs which can be downloaded from the internet. In your search engine list poker tournament software and chose the one that will work best for you.

You can program the chip colors and amount. You can list how long you want the tournament it will last and it will suggest a blind set up.

The idea for the tournament was spawned from the success of the World Heads-Up Poker Championship[citation needed], held annually in at various locations in Europe, although only one World Heads-Up Champion (« Miami » John Cernuto) has competed in the National Heads-Up Poker Championship to date. The National Heads-Up Poker Championship is an invitation-only event. In contrast, the World Heads-Up Poker Championship is an open event with a maximum participation of 128 players. The program’s debut was conceived as NBC’s NHL Lockout replacement programming in 2005 after the network had lost an entire season because of the lockout, and was looking for replacement programming on weekends to fill up time, and to take advantage of the trend in poker programming.[citation needed] The 2005 event took place at the Golden Nugget Las Vegas between March 4 and March 6. It aired weekly on NBC from May 1 to May 22 with commentary from Gabe Kaplan and Matt Vasgersian. The 2006 edition took place from March 4 to 6 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. NBC began its coverage by broadcasting one part of the opening round on April 16. The semi-final and championship matches aired May 21. Kaplan and Vasgersian returned as commentators. The 2007 edition was broadcast from April 8 to May 20. Ali Nejad took Gabe Kaplan’s spot as commentator due to Kaplan competing in the tournament.

Brought to you by truepokerdealer.com In this video, you will learn the situations that come up during the pitch and what a poker dealer needs to pay attention to. Below are the situations discussed in the video. Verify that the correct cards are secured by the correct players and stop the pitch and correct any confusion if that is what it takes. If your pitch lands short of the player, slide the card the rest of the way to the player. Avoid helicoptering the cards. Instead, keep your pitch down to help prevent it from being exposed. Pitch around obstacles instead of over them, especially when dealing around the 1 and the 10 seats. Never pitch from behind the rail. When you get a boxed card, a card that was face-up in the deck, call a supervisor. If a card flashes or exposes during the pitch, it is an exposed card. Leave that card face-up in front of that player, pitch out the rest of the cards, and then switch the exposed card with the burn card. If first card to a blind is exposed, or if two cards are exposed during the pitch, then that is a misdeal. A card off the table during the pitch is also an exposed card. The poker dealer is the referee of the table. Poker dealers must have high integrity and make sure that what happens at the table is what was supposed to happen at the poker table by enforcing the rules.

Question by : how do I find out if my actions during a texas hold-em poker game were illegal or unethical?
I am tournament director for our poker site. we play a 11 months earning points to qualify for 8 semi-final games. the top 8 points earners during these 8 semis advance to the final table for a seat at the WSOP championship. During the 8th game I advanced to the final table but I was mathematically eliminated from making the final table. All of the other players at the table were friends of mine & I didn’t want to eliminate any of them. I folded several winning hands during this game & 1 of the other players found out & is complaining about my actions. I need to know if my actions were illegal or unethical.

Best answer:

Answer by TheMadProfessor
Can’t say for sure whether it was illegal, since I have no idea how your tournament rules are worded, but it’s certainly unethical if you were folding just to your friends…that’s pretty much the basic definition of one type of collusion.

Question by Bernie J: What is the best way to keep Poker records?
I’m talking about money management.

I play a Texas Hold’em home game about once a week. I spend about $ 5 per tournament and usually expect to lose about $ 20 in a night. But ocassionally I will go to Atlantic City to play in a big tournament for more money.

My question is, specifically what is the best way to keep records of what I spend and how to manage my bankroll (simplistically).

I win and lose about evenly, but over the long run in Poker luck will even out and by keeping good records I will be able to tell whether or not I am a good player.

Also, how can I use my records to mathematically figure out how much I earn per hour at Poker, if I chose to make a job out of it?

Best answer:

Answer by ZCT
Learn Excel, and make a nice spreadsheet. This will allow you to do advanced stuff later on as you learn Excel.

What do you think? Answer below!
